"beside the Jobbik, the Hungarian Guard, the Youth Movement of Sixty-Four Counties (referring to the number of counties in Greater Hungary) Fidesz representatives were also present."

Looking forward to the next election and a possible Fidesz landslide, my guess is that Fidesz will split. The far right that migrated to Fidesz through expediency will realise their own parliamentary caucus either before or after the election.

They will realise that any constitutional amendment that actually hands more power and stability to the executive will also marginalise their ability to influence events. This will bring them into direct confrontation with Orbán, who is obviously interested in a stronger executive with himself at the helm.

Unfortunately, the turul memorial issue in District XIII is not whether the majority would leave it where it is or not. The real issue is that it was erected without building permit.

Odin's lost eye

The events, which culminated in the treaty of Trianon, were to some extent largely exasipated by the war weariness of the French, the exhaustion of both manpower and money on the part of the British and the general unwillingness of the USA to allow one more ‘doughboy’ killed in what many U.S citizens regarded as a European Civil War. The lesser nations had a field day and grabbed what they could from the racial hodgepodge that was the old Austro-Hungarian Empire. This empire was itself created in the main by Austrian soldiers from the remains of the old Turkish Empire. This was done with no little help from all of those who were once subjects of the ‘Grand Turk’. The whole area was a mess of intermingled un-cohesive communities. The Austrians did not know what to do with it or how to do it. One of the biggest and most cohesive group, the Hungarians ‘kicked over the traces’ several times and had to be ‘suppressed’ by the Austrians. If leaders of the 1848 rebellion had taken the aspirations of the non-Hungarians into account the result could have been different.
In the post Trianon period if the Hungarians should have thrown their efforts into rebuilding their now smaller and now more cohesive nation into something economically strong and worthwhile. But they frittered away their efforts by chasing an un-realistic dream of recover lost territory. A small strong Hungary might well have avoided the horrors, which were later to befall it.
I sense, towards the end of this article, that Fides are becoming more and more desperate to destroy anything and every thing, which stands in their way to total power. In this I suspect that they will use anything and everything to fulfil their megalomaniac dreams. This is history repeating its self, and once again the Hungarians will find themselves sidelined.
I fear that this will happen as judging from some of their songs and stories the Hungarians like to live in poverty and blame the rest of the world for their misfortune, whilst their politicians bicker about the need for change.
I only hope that the Hungarians can stop ‘bellyaching’, forget the past and get their act together.

The Truth

After French shameful defeats, in Sedan on 1870, on 1914 and 1940, France is doing whatever it takes to kip down Germany and Austria-Hungary. Since then, France, in a fierce struggle for existence, is denying the right of Germans, Austrian, Hungarian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Bulgarian to exist. The Trianon treaty turned the nationalities of Eastern Europe, who had always lived in coexistence, into sworn enemies.
French are enough ignorant not to understand that:
The Red Army, with 360 divisions, equipped with prestigious artillery, supported by armor, and decent air force, would invade them and stop at the Biscay Bay. They ignore the Anglo Americans efforts, and their ultimate sacrifices to save them. What goes around comes around. One day they will get what are looking for, but this day will be the last day of Europe too.
