There is such thing as too much Obama. Normal people were pretty much sick of him before the inauguration.
Ceremonies are always boring and too long, why would anyone watch that? Of course Americans are very religious and they love parades, which means that most of them didn't even notice the meaning of the event. Nearly 2 million of them representing common folks were stuck outside standing in the freezing cold, they got nothing but another speech, while rich people inside were having a ball. What's there to celebrate, really? The fat guys have a new puppet, no one cares about the rest.

Maybe most Hungarians realise that the crisis here is far more important than some vast street party celebration in the country whose policies initiated the crisis in the first place ! I am sure you had a ring side view Éva,but 'change' ? No change for sure, not when the guys first job was to suck up to AIPAC and Israel.
Sorry you are irritated that the Hungarian press did not splash headlines about this new guy, must be a big disappointment !

Ildiko

This is the first time I`ve read your blog.
First of all, I`m deeply ashamed and more than concerned that in 2009 we still have a loud filthy radical Right minority which is supported by certain section of the media, papers like the Magyar Nemzet or the Magyar Hirlap. The fact that the MTV did not transmit the inauguaration no doubt reflects the complete managerial and institutional chaos of the Hungarian State Television which has no Managing Director for almost a year. In spite of the lack of MTV transmission, I can safely state that a large number of people, especially the young, watched the CNN and BBC transmissions and were moved and cried like the Americans. The great pity that this unforgettable moment wasn`t shared by more. Indeed it was history in the making.

Ildiko,
Give the man a chance to walk on water and do some other tricks before you drop on your knees and worship him. I still don't see any reason to cry, whether your American or Hungarian or both, get a grip.
You religious people are just too happy to believe anything, and your big fat faith keeps you shielded from reality.

Ildikó,

"Radical Right minority which is supported by certain section of the media, papers like the Magyar Nemzet or the Magyar Hirlap."

Capital error. These papers are correct, independent sources. I like both.
The journalist has right to comment.
As for Obama, this not just the journalist opinion, but a fact: "He is just as much an elitist as his predecessors: a successful and rich man who just recently fell into politics. What will the Americans think when the president has to say something on the black and white issue? Let's say he has to say something in a case similar to that of O. J. Simpson? "You cannot love the Black Panthers and the Ku-Klux-Klan at the same time."

Eva S. Balogh

Zoltán: "papers like the Magyar Nemzet or the Magyar Hirlap."

Capital error. These papers are correct, independent sources. I like both.

They are incredibly biased papers full of inaccuracies. Every second day they have to publish corrections because of outright lies they publish
