Odin's Lost Eye

Does anyone think that Orban Viktor gives a tinker’s curse or even a ‘Monkey’s’ about the niceties of the Constitution. Why should he? If he does not like it he can always change it!
The problem, for us, is that we see the dangers and the illegality of what is being done. We do not however see what he is doing through the eyes of a 'Gazda'. Over the past few days the temperature has been high so beer consumption is also high. In the little Koscma to the local Hungarians the article in the Washington Post is unknown –they cannot read it- and it was not reported in the sort of papers they read which seem to feature young ladies about who people say “You do not get many of 'those' to the Kilo”. They equate the Washington Post to that of the local Posta!
The Gazdas believe that Orban Viktor is indeed the ‘Mighty One’. They seem to believe that : -
He sent the IMF back to Jerusalem (yes they believe that the IMF is an Israeli organisation.) and the ECB back to Europe away with ‘fleas in their ears’.
He told Sn Barroso (the President of the European Commission) who was the ‘boss’ and it certainly was NOT Barroso and Europe.
He castigated Chancellor Merkle of Germany and told her ‘her fortune’. He is going to punish the hated banks. OK the banks lent them the Gazdas, money, which they liked, but now these wicked and greedy international financiers want repaying. And He is leading the fight against these wicked greedy people who want their money back
They believe that Europe is totally irrelevant to Hungary except that Europe should give Hungary more money.
One of their problems is that most (if not all) have not the faintest glimmer of how capitalism and investments work. A joint stock company is totally beyond them. They believe that companies like General Foods or Tesco are each owned one very rich man.
They would applaud loudly anyone locking up of Gyurcsány, Mesterházy, David or anyone else (except them selves) without charge or trial and loose the key. After all Kador (&Co) did it and he was a ‘Great One’
To them is not Orban Victor, in truth ‘The Mighty One’?
If you look at certain bills and enactments Hungary is ‘riding for a big fall’.
In the matters of the Gazdasági Versenyhivatal where the new chairman can nominate his deputy chairmen and of the dismissal of Civil Servants Hungary is in breech of Articles 30 and 31 of the European Charter of Human Rights
There is always a problem with retrospective or windfall taxation. In general you can say something which was legal is now illegal, but you cannot punish people who did it in the past (when it was legal) for doing it. Retrospective legislation is a BIG NO-NO. Article 49 of the European Charter of Human Rights expressly forbids it, but Article 49 deals with criminal matters and punishment.. Is taxation a ‘punishment’? We have seen that in Hungary the curious situation with salaries where once a salary is decided on that is it, it cannot be reduced. Finagling with the constitution, the resulting changes being and ‘rubber stamped’ by His judges, what next? Although Orban Viktor told the Europeans where they ‘got off’, Hungary is still a member of the E.U. and could be in great danger from the European Court and from Petitions to the European Parliament, which can also lead to action in the European Court.
To them the ‘Constitution’ has no meaning. It is so much Hot Air, just a scrap of paper and that is all
