Odin's Lost eye

This is weird stuff!. Professor you say of Obersovszky that, ** “He has definite opinions about the IMF that wants to strip Hungarians of their last penny.” **
Where on earth is this ‘balm pot’ bubbling on about? One of the functions of the IMF is to collect ‘statistics’ about its member countries in an attempt to stabilise the international trade and exchange rates. Another is to be the lender of ‘Last Resort’ and I must stress the word Lender. It does this to tide national governments over during financial crises. Like all good and prudent lenders it is imposes conditions on its loans especially where the client government has been profligate in its spending. These conditions usually mean imposing some degree austerity and retrenchment on the part of the borrowers. ‘Stripping Hungarians of their last penny’ is not an option for the IMF because it would reduce that country to eternal poverty.
What I think is going on here I think is that men like Obersovszky, at the bidding of the leadership of Fidesz, are trying to force the IMF, the ECB and others to ‘give Hungary huge grants of money so that the Hungarians can go on living the ‘Life of Riley’ on other peoples money. This is something the Hungarians are very good at doing.
Fidesz does not realise it yet but Hungary is staring over the abyss of total financial collapse and what the IMF and the ECB are doing is to give Hungary a breathing space to sort out the mess that it has made for themselves. In this process the IMF are monitoring and recommending courses of action which will firstly stabilise the situation and secondly set Hungary on a more stable financial future. They do not give money away!
This man is trying to hasten the day when all power is concentrated into a few hands under the leadership of the ‘Mighty One’ -Orban Victor- and re-create a perpetual ‘Unitary State’. For the Hungarians themselves it is the old Roman idea of give them ‘Bread and Circuses’. You make a remark that Mr Obersovszky said ** “Civilians, non-politicians manage to get on the local councils and they bring the council's work to a standstill” **. Ah! What he means is that only those (intellectuals) with (suitable) political qualifications should ever be allowed to join the ruling classes. No if the towns drains are 'falling in' you need someone at the helm who knows something about engineering and not a vapid person with a doctorate in political theory. Where I lived in the U.K. I saw more than enough of those ‘addle pated’ twerps.

What he said exactly is the following: "Why is the IMF interested in a country's "legatyásodás." That's a challenge to translate. As far as I can figure this is a relatively new slang in Hungarian that literally means "someone losing even his pants" and he is standing there in his underwear.

As far as Obersovszky is concerned he is a very stupid man and most likely doesn't know the first thing about the IMF.

This is actually a very old one:)

The Columbian

Whoever the hell Obersovszky is (and who watches MTV anyway?), at least he sounds an entertaining idiot. Lakat T. Karoly always made me fall asleep- that's not good for an early morning show. I'm glad his servile demeanor is missed so much, at least by this blog.

You're an interesting sort. Your imagination is limitless. How does Lakat get in here?
